Daughter of Karim Nouri and Agatha Brown. Mahnaz’s mother and father met in med school in California when they were in their early twenties and married soon after. Had Mahnaz, then a boy named Hassan two years later. Hassan still lives with his parents and is in his last year of high school.

When Mahnaz and her brother, Hassan, were in their teens, their family moved out to Denver for a job opportunity for their mother. She didn’t care much for the sudden lack of sunshine, but it was home. She supposed. Mahnaz has always been a fan of nature, and it’s one of the few things she loves most about her new state.

Always an overachiever growing up, Mahnaz wanted to be a doctor for as long as she could remember. When she was eighteen, she was accepted into several Ivy League schools for medicine, specifically wanting to work in Paediatrics.

On a camping trip with new friends the summer between her last year of high school and what was supposed to be her first year at Yale, Mahnaz was attacked by a were cheetah while looking for wood in the forest. The cheetah was strong enough to realize what happened and reached out to Mahnaz in the month leading up to the next full moon. She moved out, dropped out before school even began, causing a rift with her parents.

Mahnaz was immediately welcomed into a local Denver coalition where she learned what she could. The attack stuck with her though, long enough that she broke her bond with the group and her attacker and moved to Hawknell to start anew in the spring of 2022.

She is currently feeling a little lost while trying to connect to her new life. She’s gotten stronger over the last year and a half but still has a long way to go.
