Fit

It had been five years since she’d last stepped foot in this building. Five years since she’d come to Ridgefield county and reconnected with the fledgling whose path had taken him away from her for so many years. A fledgling who had grown even stronger than her, and had quickly grown into the life that she’d offered him.

Their paths had separated once more, but Sigfrid was not a Sire who felt that she needed to surround her fledgling for years on end. She had never once intended to keep Edvin in any sort of cage, nor had she ever felt the need to leash him to herself.

He was free to come and go as he wished, and when their paths crossed a third time, it would be just as pleasant as the last. More stories to share and information to learn.

She did wonder if he was out there creating a clutch of his own this time, or if he’d taken to playing second to another up and coming Clutch.

With him, you could never tell.

How funny that her second time coming here would be to help a human who showed such great potential. A human that she had considered changing, and had decided to leave alone for now. Let the young woman live her life until moments like tonight where a change might be necessary.

Would a change be necessary?

Towards the entrance she went, and there was no questioning that she’d reached the right place as the scent of blood filled her lungs. A very good thing that she’d already eaten before Sara’s called tonight or she might have been tempted.

As it were, she was not.

”Sara?” She called as gently as someone like Sigfrid could be, ”let me see.” She’d brought first aid if necessary, but she had other things at her disposal if need be.

Sara had focused entirely on applying pressure to the gashes. Vampire claws were so sharp :(

She got a little startled with Sigfrid called her name, but not enough to run away.

"He got all sharp." She mumbled, letting the writer examine her. "It's the second time this happens to me."
#3
Sigfrid would place herself beside the woman, taking the arm into gentle hands as she inspected the cuts. Sharp lines that would definitely require stitches, would likely cause scars, but nothing that would have her life in immediate danger.

Sara would be fine, and there would be no need for a change. A pity in some ways, and a blessing in others, there were still many more years for this young woman to experience before Sigfrid fully considered the alternatives.

”The second time you were attacked by a vampire?” She questioned, brows raising as she shifted to pull the kit she’d brought from her purse. ”Or the second time that a vampire has bloodlusted on you?”
#4
"B-b-bloodlust." She stammered. "Both over my blood. How bad it is."

It was making her eyes sting all over again. This was such a stupid fucking reason to feel rejected, Sara!! And yet.
#5
The stammering continued to be an unattractive trait of the woman, but confidence was a slow thing to build, and there was clearly trauma to be found here. She could not fully fault the woman for her fears, not while she remained fully aware of how terrifying a bloodlusting vampire could be.

She supposed there had been one point of her life where she might have felt something similar, though those years were long behind her now.

”How bad it is?” She echoed, pulling gauze from her kit, stitching was well within her wheel house but not something to be done just out on the streets. Not with a human. And also not something that a writer might know.

She had a façade to maintain after all.

”What do you mean?” She’d get her wrapped and then they could go from there.
#6
"It's a... well, a psychic power. It makes me look human and hides my other power, but makes my blood taste very bad."

Felt right to tell Sigfrid.
#7
Sigfrid considered Sara’s response, gently dabbing an antiseptic wipe against the cuts that continued to bleed, quickly cleaning what she could so that she could begin the tight wrap of the gauze.

She’d never encountered a human like this before, but her mind bore no thoughts of deceit, and so Sigfrid had no reason to suspect that she was lying. Intriguing, and dangerous, because a psychic that couldn’t be discovered through the scent of their blood was a psychic that could cause a lot of trouble.

What other powers was she hiding?

”I see,” she hummed lips pressing together lightly as she kept her gaze to the gauze as she wrapped. ”I’ve never heard of this ability before, what is your other power?”
#8
Little proud smile. She was teaching the writer something tonight!

"I have magical speed." She replied. "That's how I escaped, both times."
#9
She certainly was being taught, and with the revelation of the second power, Sigfrid did not find herself quite as concerned. It was a useful power, yes, but nothing that she felt could be a danger to herself.

Did not know how useful it would continue to be if Sara was ever brought into this other life.

”Must be extremely fast if you’ve managed to outrun two vampires now.” Just how fast could this woman’s legs carry her? Would it only continue to increase as her body grew stronger? Curious.

Finished the wrap, and gently guided it along the woman’s chest. ”Keep it elevated for now. The cuts will likely need stitches.”
#10
"Pretty fast, yes, but I'm still working on not hitting walls." She admitted with a chuckle.

Kept her arm high, as instructed.

"Thank you for coming so fast."

Unsure herself why she had called a writer instead of an ambulance, but not complaining. It had been the right call.
#11
Human eyes could only catch so much. It was no wonder that she struggled to keep up with her own speed. Smiled in response as she finally looked Sara over in full.

Seemed that everything else was in order, ”of course.” She assured, as if this was such a natural thing.

”Would you like me to drive you to the emergency room? Maybe you can tell me about this vampire on the way there?”
#12
Her eyes stung a little. Sigfrid was just so nice! What had Sara ever done to deserve such kindness?

"If you don't mind, it would be perfect." She replied.
#13
If she had minded she would not have offered it at all, dipping her head in acknowledgement as she lifted herself from the bench and motioned for Sara to follow her back towards her car which thankfully wasn’t parked too far from where they’d sat.

”There should be one around ten minutes from here.” She offered, unlocking her car and opening the door for the other in an effort to keep the wound from worsening.

Waited until she’d settled before making her way back around to the drivers side, ”the vampire?”
#14
She'd wiggle around the seatbelt with one hand and then turn to Sigfrid when she sat in the car.

"Young looking, small. Called himself Austin." She recalled. "He wanted my phone at first, but I was nearly mugged by a wererat a while back, so I get wary."

Stupid wererat. An abomination of man and animal. The raccoons were still very cool in her eyes, but raaaats just ewwwwwww.
#15
Young. Small. Austin.

It wasn’t enough to have him standing out in any crowds, but Sigfrid would commit what little description she’d been offered to memory. If word got around that an Austin was causing more trouble around Ridgefield, then she imagined that he would be dispatched soon enough.

If this was a one off, then things would remain quiet. Time would tell as it always did.

”I’m going to make an assumption and say the request was a poor attempt at hunting.” She sighed with a shake of her head.

What did he intend to do once the phone was in hand? Stupid.

”You were smart to stay wary, it might have saved your life tonight, right along with that speed of yours.”
#16
Yeah, with hindsight, she agreed.

"I have to be careful." Sara replied. "The worst is that I wouldn't mind donating blood, it's just that it really seems to be... repugnant."

Shudders.
#17
Very strange.

”It’s as if your magic is meant protect you from vampires as a whole.” Some sort of advancement within the psychics? A way to protect them from the vampires that lacked the most basic of control? Animals always learned to adapt.

”Though I suppose if the blood is bad enough to cause bloodlust, perhaps not.”
#18
"Maybe the next one will believe me." She replied. "And not... decide I should be dealt with."

Shudders.
#19
A soft frown as she she kept her gaze to the road, head shaking lightly.

”If they decide that, then you will need to trust that your legs can carry you away for a third time.” She’d out run two so far, though Sigfrid imagined that there would be a day that her luck ran out.

”But if the same trouble persists, you let me know and I will take care of it.”
#20
Yeah. Made sense. She had ran into a hateful boy, that was for sure, but she expected that some vampires would understand and take this at face value. There were nice ones after all, like the lady at the apothecary. She couldn't be the only one--

What was that about 'taking care of it'?

"How?" She whispered.

More curious than afraid.
#21
A vampire at the apothecary? One with a little more sense if Sara’s thoughts were anything to go by, maybe a vampire worth meeting at some point.

Thoughts to consider later, but for now she would focus on the question. Could perhaps risk being honest in this moment, she’d done so with Bree, but doing so right after an attack did not feel the best call to make. Did not want to create any more anxiety than what already resided within the woman.

”I have my own set of powers as well.” She answered, a half truth and one she could clarify later when the time was right.
#22
"You do?" She asked, thrilled.

Then, a little scared. Because in that moment she became absolutely certain that Sigfrid was a vampire. Why? Well, she was too beautiful to still be living, and she had such a presence. She knew so many things. Wasn't fussed like herself was all the time.

But... well, it was just a theory. Sara wouldn't insist, wouldn't ask.

It was a little better to have a good vampire in her corner than just a psychic. Or a were? Nah, no way. What animal would she turn into anyway? A stout? Hehe. Was her author name a self-call out?

"Of course you do." She added. "You're... more."

Wouldn't extrapolate out loud. She was fine with the mystery.
#23
Clever girl.

There was no stopping the approving smile from pulling at the corners of her lips, small but no less genuine as her gaze remained fixed upon the road. They’d be at the clinic soon enough, and with Sara having already figured everything out…

It was best to clear and confirm these suspicions.

”Much more,” she confirmed with a soft chuckle. ”I’m a vampire, as I’m sure you’ve already suspected.” A pause as she looked to Sara, ”I’m sorry for having kept this from you, but it’s not something I go around telling just anyone.”

And it was only recently that she’d started telling more without the use of suggestion.
#24
AHHHHHH COULD SHE READ HER MIND--

Heart beating faster at this, and she flushed.

"No need for apologies, I get it, it's a very big deal!" She replied quickly. She was being trusted with such a secret! So of course in exchange she would trust with eye contact. It was only fair! "You can trust me, I won't tell anyone."

Even her girlfriend. Sara trusted Lydia oh so dearly but this wasn't her secret, so, sorry girlfriend!
#25
She could, but that one secret that Sigfrid wasn’t about to reveal. Not any time soon at least. Not while there was benefit to Sara being unaware of the power. She didn’t need those thoughts to start becoming guarded.

”I trust you,” if only because, again, there were no thoughts to suggest that she couldn’t. The eye contact provided letting Sigfrid know that their building trust hadn’t been broken with this new revelation.

”And you can trust me, I see a good amount of myself within you.” Not entirely sure, but there was potential there and that was enough. ”And I would like to see you flourish instead of fall.” Pulled into the lot of the clinic.

”So please continue to reach out when you find yourself in these situations. There are things that I can do, and heal, that a doctor can’t.” But tonight a doctor would have to do.
#26
Oh, oh wow, the compliment to end all compliments. And that had to be sincere, her blood sucked! There was nothing to gain for Sigfrid by lying!

So she could flourish. Well, she knew she could. But now she really, really knew?

"I will." She replied. "You were my first call already."

Didn't exactly know why, but clearly her instinct had been good about it!
#27
And she would continue to be in the future, regardless of how things played out between them, at least until Sigfrid deemed that the suggestion was no longer warranted.

”I’m honored,” a soft dip of her head. ”Would you like me to go in with you?” Asked as she motioned towards the clinic.
#28
"I'll be fine, I took enough of your time already." Sara replied with a smile.

It didn't matter that vampires were immortal, time was still precious.
#29
A nod of her head in acceptance.

”Then I’ll let you off here, I hope the rest of your night goes much better.” And maybe she would take a walk around town and see if she could find a track of blood leading to the vampire that had hurt the woman that she’d grown slightly invested in.
#30
"If it doesn't, I'll call you again!" She replied with a weak chuckle, but some real amusement.

Would still be wary of strangers, but it was comforting to know someone got her back that well.

Well, another someone, with a different set of skills.
