Passing Strange is a roleplay site set in the fictional region of Ridgefield County in Colorado! The world works very much the same way it does in real life, except in this reality, supernatural beings (shifters, vampires, and psychics) lurk among the human race. It's dangerous out there, and even the monsters might be worried about other monsters going bump in the night.

This site is for players 18+ (absolutely no exceptions!) and features a rating of 3-3-3. (That means graphic content is allowed, but it's not our focus.)

We welcome plotting, but you'll find most of our storylines and interactions unplanned and organic. Consequences are often unexpected and dramatic, but that's allll part of the fun. If this sounds appealing, read on to check if Passing Strange is a fit for you!

You might love Passing Strange if:

• You view RP as collaborative storytelling, not a game to be won
• You like organic storytelling and seeing how things unfold naturally with minimal plotting
• You know all your character's actions may have consequences (good and bad, mwuahaha!) and you find that exciting
• You're okay with the idea that your character could die without your permission if they/you fail to heed explicit OOC and in-game warnings
• You like writing with a diverse base of players and characters -- making new writing buddies sounds awesoooome!
• You don't mind being skipped if you can't post for a week, and you know you can always hop back in

You might not love Passing Strange if:

• Seeing your character lose, get hurt, or be embarrassed frustrates, upsets, or greatly stresses you
• You prefer to plot out most of your writing or storylines or don't enjoy leaving things to chance
• You are not okay with your character dying without your permission under any circumstances
• You only feel comfortable writing with your closest friends
• The idea of keeping up with all of your threads seems stressful or like too much of a time commitment

Steps for Joining

1. Check out our handbook! We recommend reading the whole thing, really really!
2. Register an OOC account with your OOC/player name
3. Join our Discord! You can meet our terrifyingly welcoming community and ask any questions you might have before character creation
4. Decide what kind of character you'd like to play, do a fresh review their species info in the handbook, then register their account using their name (properly capitalized). If you don't create a character within 72 hours, you may be asked to leave the server until you're ready.
5. Follow our Character Creation Guide (the next tab at the top!) for profile success
6. Once that's complete, head to the Joining board and follow the form to post your application!
7. Let staff know your profile is ready for review by tagging @staffers in the Discord #completed-forms channel
