Alameda maximize potential

He sucked a short little breath between his lips, finding the cool air helped a lot to settle his guts. "Yeah, yeah, of course. Just needed a second. New side effects tend to get the better of me quick if I get overeager." Which he very often did.

"What all happens to you, exactly?" It would be good to be prepared. Or be aware of not going too far.

So, he did get her side effects. Well, that sucked. It made sense magically that he would borrow someone's power and get their side effects but it still sucked. Then again, they probably always sucked.

"It's like an intense flu after a bit. So, I take it you get my side effects too?" Rosemarie grimaced.
#53
He nodded his confirmation.

"Every time I take a power blindly, it's a two-for-one on surprises." But he chuckled a bit, because it wasn't that serious usually. "Hasn't stopped me yet!" He looked at her, feeling the sensation backing off. "Must not let ourselves be limited by a little challenge."
#54
Rosemarie hummed aloud and nodded her head, finding it in herself to not be that surprised at Mingmo’s determination. It seemed like he was pretty into psychic things. How could he not with the psychic world at his fingertips?

"Of course not," She smiled and readied herself. "Want to try something more controlled? Passing a leaf back and forth?" Like keeping a balloon in the air.
#55
Taking another deep breath, as if testing his lungs would let him test his stomach, he determined that he felt back to baseline normal and loved the idea she presented. Nodding sharply, he didn't waste time and went off into the yard to collect a leaf that wasn't too big, but also wasn't so small that it would be easily lost. Showed it to her for approval with a questioning rise of his brow.

"What is it called in English? Keeping... ups?"

A child's game he had not played with anyone in such a long time.
#56
Rosemarie was glad he was on board and smiled when he showed her the perfect leaf to test it out on.

"Keep ups, I think?" She offered back and readied for him to release the leaf into the air. She hadn't played a game like this since her own school days.
#57
Neither had he, but it wasn't too hard to visualize. Especially if you thought about the leaf like a balloon and could envision the wind as an extension of yourself.

Mingmo had a vivid imagination, and found it wasn't hard to put himself into the mindset of at all. He really, truly, loved a simple, straightforward power. The more complicated ones were incredibly interesting, but things like the elements? Humanity spent so much time daydreaming of being able to wield them, and he was no different.

So he plucked a properly sized leaf and let it just in front of his own space as his eyes decolored again. A little puff of air, right in her direction. Gentle, gentle start.
#58
Rosemarie tapped into her own power after a moment and felt the whoosh of the wind change trajectory as she caught the leaf in the air moments before hitting the ground. She sent it back toward Mingmo with some practiced ease and took a steady breath in through her nose.

Her feet were positioned shoulder-width apart to allow for more balance as they worked. She was unable to speak for the moment while they concentrated on their target.
#59
She 'tossed' it back, and he hit it with a little breeze from underneath. It tried to flip back toward him, but a literal exhale was the imagination he needed to urge it forward again, twisting back toward her. It threatened to go to the ground, but he trusted she would catch it, one way or another.

His own stance? Perhaps rather 'battle ready,' as he kept a loose leash on a power that was mercifully straightforward but ultimately brand new to him. Gentle breezes were barely scratching the surface of potential.
#60
She didn’t catch it, sadly. It hit the ground before she could sweep in and snag the wind back with her power. Rosemarie laughed and shook her head at herself.

"Let’s try again." She was insistent. Instead of giving up, Rose found that breeze again and floated the same leaf into the air where it hovered just over the imaginary midpoint line between them.
#61
If she hadn't insisted, he would have! So he nodded eagerly and remained prepared, and when she lofted it, he even made a little psychic grab for it. A pull of breeze in his own direction, fluttering his own hair quite effectively, and scattering the leaf toward himself.

It was meant to be a lay up, like a volleyball serve, but he didn't have quite the grip on precision and it tumbled, threatening the ground again. A reflexive swoosh of air from the ground--cold!--sent it skyward for a moment, several feet about their heads.

But roughly her direction.
#62
Rosemarie watched as he managed to catch the leaf and send it skyward. She looked up and tried to move under it's trajectory, not anticipating the pull of another gust of wind separate to their own that would send the leaf flying toward him without her help!

She laughed, despite the dizzy feeling that was starting to form.

She didn't say anything because she couldn't speak and maintain the power but she did gently nudge it back down toward him at the last second.
#63
Mingmo kept his eye on it. But that feeling was building again in the bottom of his gut, like it was unhappy with lunch even tho that was impossible. Wouldn't hold out too much longer, then. But he saw his chance for at least one or two more passes, and she sent it right at him.

But the angle was such that he had a hard time, and instead of gusting it toward her, it canted sharply to the left. So he grabbed out with a hand, and missed that too, and it flicked downward to the ground before anyone could do anything about it.

"Aiya. I guess I got cocky!"

Breath in through nose, out through mouth. Phew.
#64
And down it fell before either of them could magically - or physically - catch it. Rosemarie chuckled and took a few deep breaths as her eyes returned to normal. It was hard to keep going once the dizziness and nausea set in but she smiled through her side effects like a seasoned professional.

"I think we both did!" Another breath.

"Shall we take a short break, then try again in a little bit?"

Only if he felt up to it.
#65
He had to swallow a couple of times as his eyes returned back to normal. As side effects went, this was not one of his favorites, that was for sure.

But if she was willing to stick around and try again once they'd both had some water and maybe some tums or something...?

"Absolutely. Come on, we can go sit inside."
