History
Leonora was born and raised near Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Her childhood consisted of playing in vast landscapes and rolling hills.
Her parents, Leonard and Georgette Coates, were wildlife biologists who had dedicated their lives to the study and conservation of the animal ecosystem. Leni spent a lot of time in their labs, observing their specimen and listening to them explain their studies.
As she grew, she began to develop the bookishness of her parents herself, excelling in school and becoming a workaholic for research.
Leni wasn't an exceptionally popular girl, her boundless energy and tendency to ramble made her a bit of a social pariah. She didn't mind this though, she was happy to shut herself in her room every weekend to study.
After graduating high school, she moved to Texas to pursue and undergraduate degree in Biological Science, following in her very proud parent's footsteps. Life opened up during her college experience, and she learned to become a more social creature.
She stayed in Texas for about two years after graduating, living with her college boyfriend. After a bad breakup (nerds can be so dramatic), Leni headed back home to Wyoming.
Ever terrified of stagnancy, she decided she wasn't ready for a career yet but couldn't bare to have too much spare time. To continue her education, she applied to and enrolled in Graduate school studying Biology.
Her school's zoology lab was world-renowned and often took in cases to study from all over the world, with animals arriving in crates, Leni was fascinated by all of them and unafraid to approach any animal, regardless of temperament.
Eventually, Leni was bitten by a terrified fennec fox she attempted to approach for an examination. This wasn't the first time she'd been bitten, and she had all her shots. She bandaged up the deep bite in her wrist and carried on.
Soon after the bite, Leni began to feel strange. Her hearing seemed supersonic, voiced echoed through her head in a dizzying manor. A lifelong vegan, she suddenly had an insatiable craving for meat. She knew something was truly wrong when she got out of bed at 2 AM to get a double cheeseburger at a drive-thru.
Then came her first, extremely traumatic shift. But she was honestly more excited than scared about her new normal.
After being turned, Leni completed her Masters program in Biology and relocated to Colorado, interested in it's nature and wildlife.
She shifted her career focus to Forensic Science, getting a job for the State of Colorado in their toxicology unit.
Relationships
