Adaptation:
- He uses this power for his asthma occasionally if he can’t find his puffer. Sometimes he’ll use it to adjust his eyesight in the dark or while reading a text. It was first developed in the library during an asthma attack when he'd forgotten his puffer. Some could say it was his body adjusting for his health, Gerard would have said it was from panicking about being too loud in a library.
- Side effects: Painful bruising wherever he’s adapted his body. Typically a few hours after use. The longer he uses it for, the more painful it is later. If used for too long or on too great a feat, it could lead to internal bleeding if he’s not careful. He’s been hospitalized a couple of times testing his limitations.

- Now this is the power that causes him the most grief! Like, actual grief. This power is mainly used to speak to his dead wife in recent years, having developed it on his fiftieth birthday. He has told no one about it. Right now, he can only channel this power through looking at an image of the person. It must be a physical copy of the picture, not on a device. For some reason old film prints (and negatives) are easier to summon ghosts from than digital images. Guess ghosts like that classic film grain. The person will be in black and white if he uses a black and white image and in colour if he uses a colour image.
- He does not know how to summon a stranger but would like to try one day.

- Born in 1971 in Edinburgh, Scotland. Mom died when he was young.
- Army brat. Moved around a lot with Dad all over the UK. Found out he was allergic to bees when he was stung as a kid. Whoops!
- Developed asthma around the same time.
- Often spent his evenings in the library after school.
- Bullied a fair bit, till he learned to fight back just in time to move again.
- Ended up in Wales where they stayed. Met a girl, named Mara, that he fell in love with when they were sixteen. They both worked in the library after school when they were teenagers. Got married when they were nineteen. Had a couple of kids. He would only dance for her.
- Went to school to become a librarian.
- His wife, Mara, died of lung cancer in the 90s. He still has her ashes in an urn in his office to this day. He had to raise his two kids on his own. He thinks he did a decent job.
- His kids live in America and have since they went to school. One kid lives in Los Angeles, the other lives in Chicago. He missed them, so he chose Ridgefield, Colorado to not show any favouritism. Landed a job at the college library in Alder Heights.
