History
No one was surprised when he added acoustics to his already pleasant voice, even if he was disappointed at the side effect that prevented him from fulling hearing the result of his own power. He would have been perfectly happy pursuing a career in a symphony with his cello, but it was clear soon enough that his ability paired best with his voice, and so he got on the musical theatre route through London’s Royal Academy of Arts.

Back in the US after studying abroad, he met a certain Laurie at a psychic convention, and the mutual attraction was only deepened when they realized they shared a power. They would go on to be married, but it took a full decade before they were blessed with their first child, Holly. Unconsciously, this made him expect even more of her, since someone who makes their audience wait surely has a fabulous show to deliver?

As the family grew, his attention was split between four children who all had their own things to prove. It was an exhausting yet rewarding time that went by like a flash. And developing a second power sure helped in wrangling the rowdy quatuor. His own little band… from who he hid his second ability.

The year of Holly’s 13th birthday was pivotal for both of them, and an irony of fate. Her own power awakened, and Nolan overexerted his during a demanding tour, causing some permanent damage to his vocal cords (or so he thinks). He tried to go the regular singer route, but quit after a critic commented on how his performance had lost its magic. “If they want magic, they will have magic.” His dream of the perfect performance would have to pass through Holly and dedicated as much of his time as possible to helping her hone her own skills.

But it seemed things could only go well in one area at a time. While Holly was improving, the family life got more and more tense. Control of his children escaped him, and some compromises had to be made, to his great dislike. The price to pay to maintain peace was only getting higher. And at some point, it was no longer possible.

With all the children out of the house pursuing their own paths, he was confronted to a new reality of having no one to guide. Laurie urged him to give their kids some space, and so he begrudgingly agreed, focusing on tutoring those who actually wanted his advice, and rekindling with his dusty cello.

But his patience has limits, and seeing Holly’s name on the Into The Woods poster crossed them. Really, his own daughter wanted to keep this new milestone from him? Who was going to coach her, support her and rise her to the heights where she belonged? Himself, of course.

Fresh off the plane and staying with friends from an old Phantom production in Alder Heights, Nolan was ready for Act II of his father-coach career.

In game:
  • Reconnected with Holly with mitigated results, met XXXX and doesn't like him at all
  • Got attacked by a vampire, which led to living with Holly
  • SHE'S A WEREWOLF??
  • Trying to clear his head, he went for a walk, encountered a snow leopard teeth first and would have become one if Dakila hadn't stepped in
  • Reached out to pacts for unturning. While at first he meant to push Holly through the procedure, now he needs it for himself
  • Started a pro and con list of wolf life to pretend he gives it serious thought
  • No longer having to deal with XXXX due to his untimely passing removed a serious con on the list
  • Decided the wolf was his new power and to try his best
Relationships
  • Holly Hopper — Daughter. Spent his life coaching her, now it's her turn. A big part of the reason why he's keeping the wolf
  • XXXX — This person exists, which is a shame (and now this description is very awkward for the writer)
  • Blair Cardoso — Talented young lady he met and wants to help her further her career. Doesn't know she's a were
  • Sienna Rousseau — Doesn't know her name, but she's his angel. He thinks it's thanks to her that Grape reached out for unturning
  • Grape Lee — Convinced her name is really Grape. Will not unturn him, but he appreciated the information
Other
  • Conversational in French and Italian, also knows some basic Spanish
  • Singing voice is the face as his FC, here’s a high quality rendition from 1998 and more recently in 2022
  • Often adopts a fake, made up accent when in a particularly trying mood

Dumping the powers here in case mister regains them one day:
Psychic Life 12 to 61
Acoustics – Used to be a perfect control of volume and pitch, to project his voice, and even a whisper could be sent across the room and still be heard, which made for a unique experience for showgoers. Side effects include losing hearing in both ears, always the left one first, and overexerting hurt his vocal cords. Once on a very demanding production, he went too far and caused permanent damage to his throat, making it no longer possible to pair his power with signing. Pitch control is still a thing though, with the same side effects as before.

Truth sense – Developed at 40 once the house was full of kids. It was always on at first, which was a terrible experience as the side effects include temporary blindness. After a few days and a doctor visit (that revealed that there was nothing wrong with his eyes), he spent some time by himself in silence to see what it would do. Then he noticed there was an apparent boost to his instinct when others were lying around him, and learned to push away the curiosity. Trying to see the truth too hard makes him literally blind to it, the length of which depends on the gravity of the lie. With time, he discovered he could also ask for the truth, but only twice a day, for a third attempt will steal his voice for 24 hours.
