History
(TW: Racism, Homophobia, Hopelessness/Thoughts of Suicide)
It was the year 1942. Eugene was born in an unfortunate time in an unfortunate place to very unfortunate parents. His home had been destroyed and with it, his entire family. Eugene was found among the rumble of his home at just a few months old. He was adopted by American couple, Robert and Mary Armstrong. Since his birthday was unknown, the couple treated his adoption day, August 31, 1942, as his birthday.
Growing up with the Armstrongs had its ups and downs. They had two children of their own, Bobby (born 1940) and Mary Anne (born 1945), and two adopted children, Eugene (born 1942) and Diane (born 1941). Bobby and Mary Anne often came first in family functions and if there was time for things Eugene or Diane wanted to do, then that would be done. For Eugene and Diane, they were told to be grateful. Gone were each of their war-torn countries. Instead, they lived in a slice of suburban heaven known as Park Forest, IL. They attended St. Mary's Church every Sunday and were regulars to all church functions.
While Bobby was encouraged to attend college, Eugene was encouraged to get a job straight from high school. For a while, he worked in a factory, but he had dreams of being more than that. His adoptive father, a soldier turned civilian businessman, used to tell both boys tales of his brief time as a soldier in World War II, before being injured and discharged. While Bobby went on to become a doctor, Eugene was interested in helping more on the front lines. His adoptive mother talked him out of joining the army, much to the dismay of Robert, and instead guided him into policing. After earning enough money at the factory, Eugene moved to the inner city of Chicago and became a police officer.
Eugene knew he had to work three times as hard as many of his fellow officers, but he did so with dignity and grace. Not only did he have to contend with being an Asian-American police officer, but he had to contend with being a gay one as well. By the early part of the 1980s, he'd been settled in quite nicely with a happy job; a loving partner, Mike; and aging parents who didn't fully understand and weren't always the nicest about his sexuality, but still loved and accepted him as their son. In 1982, everyone was excited when Eugene had finally been promoted to a police force based in Danbury, CT. Danbury would be a lot safer for Eugene and many of the immigrants to Danbury included people from Asian countries, which Eugene hoped would mean he could get in touch with his roots.
Unfortunately, there was a sinister side to Danbury that many people were unaware of, including Eugene. On the way home from a work function, Eugene came upon a horrible car accident and stopped to help. The car accident, which had involved a young woman hitting a tree, quickly became far more gruesome when Eugene realized that the woman had hit the tree while avoiding a person in the road: a person who was a vampire, who was drinking her dry. The vampire turned to Eugene next and attacked. Eugene doesn't remember this at all, but was told later by the vampire that after his attack, he'd been given blood to heal and suggested to forget. Sadly, Eugene was killed the next night in the line of duty with vampire blood still running through his system.
Eugene woke up in the morgue and escaped. He returned home to tell a stunned Mike what had happened. Mike insisted they go to the hospital. It was there that Eugene was abducted by another vampire who worked as a custodian in the hospital and overheard Eugene's tale to the doctors. The vampires force-fed him blood and kept him locked away for a few days until the night of the new moon. Once he'd succumbed to his new form, he was initiated into the clutch through suggestion.
For a number of years, the dominus of the clutch forced him into various police departments so that he could destroy or tamper with evidence to protect the clutch and their numerous attacks and killings. When he developed his power, he became of even greater use to the clutch. Throughout this time, Eugene hated life and desperately tried to find ways out of it. Five years after becoming a vampire, he came across a domina from another clutch who saw what was happening and suggested him into her clutch. Despite this, he was treated better: nurtured and supported in ways that he'd felt from Mike and- from time to time- with his parents. Vampiric life and mood greatly improved.
Eventually, the domina broke his suggestions and offered him the freedom to choose what he wanted to do. He left. It was 1997 and he wanted to see what had become of his family and partner. His parents had passed away. Bobby was a doctor and father. Mary Anne was a wife and recent empty nester. Diane had found biological aunts and uncles and moved back home to be with them. And Mike had found love with another. Both sad yet content in his discoveries, he let each of them continue to believe he had passed away and went on to make a new life for himself.
He moved to Portland, OR and found police work there. He stayed away from the vampire clutches in the area and focused solely on himself. When it started to become odd that he wasn't aging, he would put in a transfer to a department in a new city several states away. From Portland, he went to Kansas City, to Raleigh, to Pittsburgh. In Pittsburgh, when vampires in New York outed themselves, he finally admitted that he was a vampire. Not knowing how to handle this information, he was let go. Eugene has since worked for more police departments all over the country as an out vampire, typically assigned to desk work until someone got too scared of him and he would be forced to resign or transfer.
In September of 2022, he put in for a transfer to Ridgefield, CO after hearing about the Supernatural Task Force. Fully knowing that it is a special assignment, Eugene intends to start back at the bottom as a beat cop with aspirations to eventually get to the STF.
