History
cw: mentions of alcoholism, addiction, cancer.
Daughter of Jorge Ramos and, estranged mother, Niamh Byrne. Father raised Luisa alone in a small two-bedroom apartment in San Francisco. Her mother suffered from an alcohol and drug addiction and left them when Luisa was two. She hasn’t been seen or heard from apart from the occasional birthday card.
Luisa was a decent student who strived to bring home the grades her father would approve of. She excelled in many subjects, including the fine arts. Creating sculptures was her true passion, and she wanted to be an artist more than anything else. She attended community college, finishing a degree in fine arts.
Shortly after graduation, when Luisa was twenty-two, she was diagnosed with stage two Hodgkin disease. Not having the money or the insurance to cover the cost of treatment, it grew worse. Her father confided in a close family friend who knew a few shifters in the area. One agreed to turn her, effectively curing her of the disease. It took a long time to adjust to life as a weasel, and for a time, things were not great. Luisa accidentally infected her father one night during an unplanned shift at dinner. Luisa felt guilty for years after infecting her father and did not leave his side. The two joined a local boogle (a weasel group) and Luisa put all of her hopes and dreams on hold until her father managed to gain better control over his animal side.
One day, when she was twenty-six, she came home to discover her father had bought her a used red Ford pickup and sent her on her way, expelling her from the nest. Luisa fought the idea at first but eventually gave in and hit the road, finally doing something just for her. She travelled all over the States for four years, learning much about weres along the way. She keeps a handy list of things she’s learned about them in a notebook.
In February 2022, Luisa lands in Cheyenne Point, Colorado. She hopes to make a life for herself and settle down for a little while. She lives around the corner from The Drunk Poet, which she frequents every other day for her cup of coffee. Her favourite coffee is a pumpkin spice latte with extra cinnamon, which she’s managed to obtain as much as possible during the off-season due to her friendly and enthusiastic demeanour. It reminds her of her favourite cafe in San Francisco.
Relationships
Fitz-Lloyd Darling — Luisa’s roommate and best friend in the whole world. They often shift together. He has a cat named Wendy Darling who she also adores.
Raziyya al-Dimashqi aka Layla — Has only just put together that Layla might be a vampire. Permanently suggested by Layla: "You'll only ever be happy around me."
Paul Howard — Accidentally bit Paul one time and turned him. Tried to do right by him until he left town.
Amelia Hale — A very helpful and friendly vampire who chilled with Luisa when she shifted into warrior form for the first time on her birthday.
