History
1752-1775
Ezra was born in 1752 to a poor couple in Devizes, Wiltshire, England. Three siblings followed after him: two sisters and then a brother. At an early age, he started working in a textile mill alongside his parents. Life was tough and his parents frequently had to borrow in order to get the very basic needs met. Because of this, Ezra and his younger brother were eventually conscripted into the British infantry as a way to settle some of the debts. He joined the 62nd regiment and was quickly shipped to Quebec, Canada during the American Revolutionary War.
1775-1777
Ezra began his military career at the Battle of Quebec. The battle had been a win for the British, and Ezra deeply hoped it meant that he could return home soon. His regiment was eventually combined with other regiments, who met up at Freeman's Farm for what would be known as the First Battle of Saratoga. As dusk neared on the first day of fighting, Ezra was shot in the belly and fell on a dropped bayonet. Nobody came to his aid, and as night fell, both sides ceased fighting. Ezra laid in agony for what felt like hours, until approached by a woman dressed all in black. The woman turned out to be a domina of a vampire clutch, who took to the battle fields at night to feed on barely alive soldiers and end their suffering. Ezra begged for help and the domina, noting a resemblance to her son who had died long ago, took pity, turned him, and had him join her clutch.
1777-1787
The clutch turned out to be an all-women clutch, and none of the members were particularly thrilled with Ezra joining. As such, Ezra was forced to make a lot of promises and was repeatedly told that he was forever going to be the lowest ranking member. Despite this, he was still given preferential treatment by the domina and regularly treated like her child.
After a few years and finally getting used to Ezra, a few of the women decided they rather liked having him around and began secret relationships with him. Eventually the regent found out about one relationship (with her actual sister), and dragged him to the domina to tell her to banish him or she'd cut his head off. The domina reluctantly kicked him out, but gave him some money and advised him to head south to join a clutch whose dominus she knew.
1787-1887
Ezra met up with the other clutch and was welcomed in and was relieved to find that this clutch was a co-ed one. This new clutch was also much larger, and Ezra was able to generally fly under the radar and receive lots of assistance in hunting over the years. During the Civil War, Ezra brought up how he came to be a vampire and suggested that to the dominus that maybe they could head out into the battlefields to feed from dying soldiers.
The suggestion proved popular and the dominus began to take more of a notice of Ezra and started trying to give him new responsibilities. Ezra would claim he was doing the best he could, even though he didn't really actually try. Tired of the expectations and the disappointment from fellow clutch members, Ezra left the clutch.
1887-1910
Ezra traveled back to his hometown in England to begin searching for what had ever happened to his family. He knew they were all dead by now, but wondered if he had any relatives left. After many years of half-assed research, he finally discovered that he had no living relatives. His parents had passed away from disease; his brother had been killed on the same battlefield he'd been turned on, during the Second Battle of Saratoga; his oldest sister had died in childbirth (and her child had also not survived); and his youngest sister had apparently died under suspicious means, of which he never discovered what that meant.
Feeling lost now, he wandered around England for a few more years before heading back to the US.
1910-2021
Ezra continued his wandering around the East Coast of the US for a few years before he ran into an old clutchmate from his first clutch. She had been one of the women he'd had a secret relationship with, but given the number of years since then, there was no spark between them. Still, they spent time with each other, reminiscing about the earlier days. Ezra found out that the regent who had demanded he be banished had long since died, but so had the domina. The woman wasn't sure if the newer version of the clutch, which was still all female, would accept him back, so he stayed away for a few years and would slowly re-introduce himself back to the members or introduce himself for the first time to the women who were not in the clutch previously. Eventually, he became an honorary member, but was never an official member of the clutch.
Life was good enough for him to stay for around for decades, and he eventually made a few other friends within other clutches. However, when vampires outed themselves in 2017, Ezra thought it would be better to actually join a clutch. Unfortunately, nobody seemed to want him because he could never answer questions about what he could bring to a clutch seriously. Ezra left the area to try some places he'd never been.
He caught a tip that there were a few vampire clutches in an area in Colorado, and so headed to the Ridgefield County area of Colorado.
