+Mikołaj+
1606-1620
-Born as Mikołaj in 1606 to a commoner family in the city of Minsk in modern day Belarus. At the time, Minsk was part of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.
-Mikołaj was the youngest of five children and was the only son. As soon as he was stable on his feet, he was required to help his father in the fields.
-It was evident from an early age that Mikołaj was different. Aside from having heterochromatic eyes (one blue and one brown) at birth, he was also very imaginative and creative. During playtime, which wasn't often, his parents or sisters would notice that his eyes would both look brown. But when they would call his name and he would look up at them, the blue eye would be back.
-At 12 years old, while out walking with his father to trade, a nobleman and scientist took an interest in Mikołaj's eyes and wanted to study them. His father worked out a deal that the nobleman would pay them the same price as Mikołaj would be paid working in the field, and the nobleman would also educate him.
-Mikołaj was sent to the Raseiniai region in Lithuania and joined the nobleman's son, Kazimierz, at school. Kazimierz would frequently tease him as being poor and stupid, but Mikołaj studied hard and was a very quick learner, and in a couple years' time, not only did he catch up with Kazimierz, but he surpassed him in his studies.
-It was soon after that other began to pay more attention to Mikołaj and to the fact that he was often seen in the nobleman's house. Mikołaj himself began to circulate rumors that he was Kazimierz's cousin who'd come to stay with them.
-Mikołaj had also heard rumors that the nobleman's family was false nobility using a coat of arms that didn't belong to them. Using his telepathy, he was able to find out that this was true, and using his illusion ability, he made it look like he had a document showing that he had proof they were not related to the family of their coat of arms.
-The nobleman was upset at being bested by a 14 year old commoner, but offered to give Mikołaj anything he wanted to not go public. Mikołaj wanted their name and wanted his parents and sisters taken care of. The nobleman agreed.
+Mikołaj Siemienowicz+
1620-1629
-Left school in 1620 and began writing for different publications, mostly satirical work under various pseudonyms.
-In 1623, he began to travel around different areas of Poland, enjoying a life of luxury.
-In 1624, he met Walerian Nekanda Trepka in Krakow, who had begun working on what would become
Liber generationis plebeanorum - a book aimed at outing false nobility and various scandals and disputes that went on in noble families.
-In an effort to keep his own lineage under wraps, Mikołaj used his telepathy to figure out other members of false nobility for Walerian. Walerian therefore never bothered to check into Mikołaj or the rest of the Siemienowicz family.
-Enjoys some of the fall out after the book is published; especially because no one was able to tie anything to him.
-Spent the later half of the 1620s attending various nobility events and privileges in and around Poland, Lithuania, and the commonwealths.
-His looks and eyes catch the attention of Anna Kiszka, a noblewoman from a magnate family. Unbeknownst to everyone else, she is actually a fraud who has no money and, more importantly, was a vampire.
-In 1929, Mikołaj and Anna become involved, though Mikołaj figured out via telepathy that he's being suggested into loving her and that she is planning to marry him for money and then kill him. He confronted her about it, keeping his eyes closed and telling her that he's leaving. She becomes enraged about this and attacks him. Once she tastes his blood, she bloodlusts and nearly kills him.
-Anna takes pity on him because in her time with him, she did find him charming and attractive. She decided to turn him and keep him as her fledging rather than continue on alone.
-Mikołaj hated her for everything, but stuck around for a few months to get the vampire life down before making the slow journey to France.
+Michel de Castres+
1630-1703
-At the beginning of 1630, Mikołaj arrived on the outskirts of Paris and changed his name to Michel de Castres based on the grave of a man he saw in a small village miles away from Paris.
-Michel knew very little French, only understanding some of the language thanks to his studies in Latin as a child. A local vampire clutch discovered him and he joined the clutch in an effort to learn the French language.
-The clutch has many members from several nations, so Michel also spent time learning Russian and German. In return, he teaches the group Polish and helped others with their Latin.
-In 1632, after becoming more accustomed to France and the French language, Michel killed a local landowner and produces fake lettres patentes from King Louis XIII, turning the land into noble fiefs and Michel into an aristocrat.
-Michel began to spend his time in Paris, helped the clutch members establish themselves as nobility, and even helped the clutch establish a late night cafe in the area, which they used to lure in humans for feeding. As a reward for his ingenuity, Michel is moved into the Regent position.
-When France gets involved in a war and begins to tax the nobility in 1635, the clutch began to rely more heavily on Michel's powers in order to trick the tax collectors and French royalty into believing they were paying their taxes.
-For several years, the clutch continued to live as they always had since Michel set them up, until the death of King Louis XIII in 1643. Cardinal Mazarin imposed more taxes, which caught members of the clutch off guard. Michel had no time to illusion up any documentation, and when his suggestion failed, he was threatened with imprisonment. Another clutch member killed the collector and fearing the repercussions of what might happen in addition to the taxes, Michel decided it was best to flee. The dominus didn't agree and the clutch splintered as Michel decided he was leaving anyway.
-Michel and the rest of the clutch took up residence in a small village in the north of France. They stayed out of nobility circles as a way to lay low and were only considered a wealthy family. Most townspeople were leery of them, but gave them their space.
-Michel became the dux of the new clutch, mostly because the other clutch members were a lot younger than him.
-The clutch stayed in the area, and rarely left the homestead for town. Michel managed to suggest a string of villagers to join them for nightly dinner parties, usually two to three villagers each night, and has the villagers on a schedule so the same two or three villagers will visit only on their specific day.
-In 1648, the clutch moved to another small village and did the same thing.
-The clutch continued to move between these two villages, adding in a few other villages, and always picking new villagers, until 1703.
-In 1703, Michel realized he was bored of doing the same thing and decided to leave.
-Michel informed the clutch that he intended to travel to Russia as Tsar Peter had founded Saint Petersburg, which is to be the new Russian capital. The rest of the clutch thought this was too risky and refused to join him. Michel managed to convince a few members to follow him and the small group set off for St. Petersburg.
+Vasili Starov+
1703-1792
-Michel changed his name to Vasili Starov and settled in St. Petersburg with the few former clutch members that chose to follow him. They are not yet strong enough to form a clutch, but remained close for protection.
-In the new city, Vasili and the rest of the vampires tried to open up numerous businesses, mostly bars, to supplement their funds and lure people in to feed from them. Unfortunately, Peter the Great had ordered all other stone buildings to stop being built. Vasili managed to suggest a few people to keep building and hid the stones behind walls of wood.
-In 1712, Peter the Great officially moved the capital of Russia to St. Petersburg and ordered noble families to take root. By now, Vasili had once again became a powerful vampire, had a few other followers, and was once more in charge of the clutch in the area. He had also gained considerable wealth through his business ventures in the city. He used the decree from Peter the Great to convince others that he was a nobleman and had others build a palace for him on the embankments of the city.
-In 1713, news of his wealth reached his old clutch, still in France. A few more vampires left the clutch to travel to St. Petersburg. Vasili suggested them into never questioning him again before allowing them to rejoin the clutch.
-With new vampires arriving, he asked them to teach him English and Swedish.
-When the St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences opened in 1724, Vasili took an interest in the school and donated some funds in order to receive some education.
-In 1730, when Empress Anna took control of Russia, Vasili and the clutch began to lay low, as it was noted that Empress Anna had a secret police organization. Even though Vasili and the clutch were never involved in political dealings, there were a few noble families who were jealous of his success and he was concerned they would try to use the police against him.
-Sure enough, in 1732, the police came around. Vasili managed to use his powers to not only convince them he was completely innocent, but to also steer them towards the families who had sent them. A few members of those families were found guilty and the rest of the family stayed away from Vasili.
-With the wars starting in the mid-30s, and after the scare from Empress Anna's police, some of the clutch began to feel as though St. Petersburg was not safe and started trying to convince Vasili to move them somewhere safer. Vasili had a feeling things would work out in the end, but agreed with the clutch and began looking into new places for the group to live.
-In 1733, Vasili and the clutch traveled to a small village in Sweden to put down roots. Vasili's plan wasn't to stay long, and before the year was over, he gathered up the few vampires whom he'd suggested years before to go back to St. Petersburg and leave the rest of the clutch in Sweden. He made sure the clutch in Sweden was in good hands and had plenty of funds. Those who wished to rejoin him in St. Petersburg could at any time.
-In early 1734, Vasili and a much smaller clutch returned to St. Petersburg to continue their lives.
-In 1750, Vasili and the clutch moved to Moscow as their unchanging age started to become suspicious.
-By 1780, Vasili was once more beginning to grow bored. He was incredibly wealthy now and most people are too scared to dare challenge him. The clutch was large once more and operated rather efficiently. As a result of his boredom, Vasili began to get more reckless.
-The clutch was quick to neutralize any threats that happened as a result of Vasili's carelessness and dissent began to spread among the clutch. In 1785, after yet another incident, the clutch decided to leave without Vasili. Those who had been suggested into loyalty were killed off.
-Vasili was angered and sought revenge. He spent the next 5 years trying to track the clutch, but always came up empty.
-In 1792, Vasili decided to head to the Swedish village where he had left former members of his clutch years before. Upon arrival, he found their estate completely abandoned. Posing as an interested buyer in the property, and using his powers to make himself appear different in case anyone might recognize him, he sought out the townsfolk to see what they had to say about the estate. He found out that the entire clutch had been wiped out when the townspeople had discovered they were vampires. They ripped open the boarded up windows, turning the clutch into ash.
-Vasili, outraged, bloodlusted and killed many of the villagers. He was ran out of the village when more townfolk showed up, and just barely escaped to the woods where he was able to turn into his crow animal form and hide. That day, he stayed inside the trunk of a tree to keep safe from the sun's rays.
-Not sure what else to do, Vasili headed back home.
+Mikołaj Siemienowicz (again)+
1792-1845
-In 1792, Vasilli returned to his hometown of Minsk, now part of Russia, and changed his name back to Mikołaj Siemienowicz. Any family who might've known him was already dead, and this time, he didn't attempt to claim any sort of Polish nobility.
-Mikołaj kept a low profile during this time, and spent much of his time alone and away from other vampires.
-In 1812, Napoleon's army invaded. The troops began to damage the city and Mikołaj used all of his powers to get out of Minsk. He fled south to what is now modern day Ukraine, which was currently controlled by Russia, but stayed in Kiev, which was largely filled with other Poles who'd fled Poland.
-Feeling a little safer now, Mikołaj turned a few people to have some company. Having the name of old Polish nobility, Mikołaj once again began to climb social ladders.
-Tensions started rising among the Poles in Kiev and elsewhere over Russian control. Even though Mikołaj considered himself a Pole, he had a dog in neither fight, but he would agree with talks of Polish revolution with the Polish nobility and talks of Russian control with the small Russian nobility in the city. This way, he hoped that he and his group would be spared from any fighting that may brew up in Kiev.
-During the November Insurrection of the 1830s, Mikołaj said very little to anybody as he was not interested in being involved in the constant wars the countries were waging.
-In 1845, Mikołaj and the others knew it was time to move on once more before people began to wonder about their aging. Tired of the constant wars being fought in his usual countries, Mikołaj decided to move to London.
+James Taylor+
1845-2017
-With the beginnings of the potato famine hitting Ireland, there were plenty of people moving to England, so Mikołaj stuck to neighborhoods with a high concentration of new immigrants and changed his name to James Taylor.
-In 1846, James runs into Anna Kiszka, the woman who tried to kill him, but instead turned him. Anna talked about how angry she was about him leaving, but after so many years, wanted to be friends again. She took him and the other two vampires in his small group to the clutch she was part of and James and the others joined.
-James was still leery of Anna, but she claimed she changed and had lost everyone she knew in the wars. James felt some connection to this and decided to forgive Anna.
-The two became closer as they shared a similar history and could communicate in their native tongue. They also both enjoyed just being part of a clutch, but not in charge of it and began to consider this their 'retirement' from leadership.
-The clutch moved around to various cities in England during the second half of the 1800s.
-In 1914, war broke out between Austria and Serbia. James is not surprised given the nearly constant conflicts in that region for the 300+ years he'd been alive.
-One month later though, Great Britain joined the war. James talked with Anna about possibly leaving.
-James and Anna decided to stick with their clutch and stick the war out, but seriously consider moving to the US in 1915. After the sinking of the Lusitania though, the two decided it's too dangerous to attempt moving.
-Later in 1915, the clutch moved to a small town, away from the cities that might be attacked by opposing forces.
-Finally, in 1918, the war ended and the clutch felt some relief.
-In 1920, the clutch moved back to London.
-James went back to opening up clubs and living a more hedonistic lifestyle, within reason.
-Things skidded to a halt in 1939 with the start of Germany invading Poland and the United Kingdom declaring war on Germany.
-Much to James's dislike, the clutch did not immediately relocate. The clutch leader insisted that London would be safe.
-In July of 1940, the Battle of Britain began. At that point, it was too dangerous to try to get out of the city.
-In September of 1940, the Blitz began. Nightly attacks by Germans meant that many humans were no longer out after dark. Many younger vampires in the clutch withered away to death. There was also the threat of their home being hit in one of the raids.
-Some of the vampires in the clutch, including Anna, were killed while out hunting and being caught in a bomb.
-Throughout the 57 nights of the Blitz, the clutch completely fell apart due to the death and destruction. After losing Anna, James managed to escape London with a few other vampires following him, and hid out in the small village of South Mymms, surviving only on a few humans they'd managed to kidnap and keep tied up.
-Once the Blitz was over, the humans were turned into vampires and James once more established a clutch in the village, and decided to stay there until the war was over.
-With the war over in 1945, and still depressed over the death of Anna, James decided that going back to London was out of the question. The rest of the clutch wanted to go to London, so James severed their ties to let them figure things out on their own.
-James traveled around for the rest of the 1900s, without a clutch, and never stayed in one place for too long. He switched between all the names he'd gone by over the years.
