Tips for Advertising on RPG-D

A great way to recruit new members is by responding to RP Requests on RPG-D!

You'll find competition is fierce on these forums, and only one person from a site can respond to an ad. This means you'll want to make sure your response is as compelling as possible!

A few quick tips:

Respond to all of their requests point by point

Be sure to cover if we match their word count preferences (AKA no word count), their content preferences (3-3-3/no restrictions) and their genre preferences. Then, go through the ad in full. Respond to each detail. If they want a friendly community, mention ours! Real faceclaims? Mention we have those! Even if it's already covered in our ad, it's worth saying in detail to truly respond to what they're looking for.

It might seem tedious, but going through detail by detail (you can do it in bulleted list format for easy reading if you want!) is an amazing way to show that we're a great fit for them. The end result of your reply is likely to be quite lengthy depending on how long their request is, and that's a-okay!

Show your enthusiasm/consider personal stories

If you're excited, they'll be excited! Tell them that you'd be hyped if they joined, talk about how you share similar ideas as players. Share stories about how your experiences on site match what they're looking for! If they have anxieties about finding a new site, and you've lived that before, don't hesitate to tell them you know that feel. And if they're proposing a character idea, tell them about how you're excited to RP with that character. Being welcoming immediately creates good, good feels for them even before they join.
