Reignhart • Unclaimed
Reignhart is inarguably the “fancy” side of town, full of old money and beautiful, enormous homes on equally lush lots. Businesses in the area are chic and sharp, from the gourmet restaurants and high fashion retail shops to the multi-tenant commerce buildings. The streets are well-maintained and clean, and brightly lit in the evenings, and it’s common to see police officers cruising around on patrol day and night.
Brickley Street
Brickley Street is a two mile strip of road lined with a wide variety of masterful culinary establishments. From country club brunches to Parisian dinners and everything in between, plenty of fanciful cravings may be satisfied on Brickley Street. Many of the restaurants on the path have dining patios to utilize on warm weather days, and long tendrils of white fairy lights twinkle between the trees in the evenings.
Fernsby Place
The grounds of Fernsby Place maintain some opportunity for immense beauty and liveliness, but between the overgrown weeds and the mansion’s slowly declining architecture, it leaves something to be desired. Dozens of acres of fields and trees around the abandoned manor have been left to the sway of nature, and the stately home itself has lost countless bits of roofing and other important structuring. A handful of tales can be told about Fernsby Place and the generations of wealthy family members who died in it, but if you’re brave enough to venture into the property, you might be able to glean your own clues.
Galloway’s Park
A stately, breathtaking bit of manicured nature in the heart of Reignhart, Galloway’s Park hosts a handful of walking and biking trails that wind around a relatively small, man made lake. The most notable feature of Galloway is the collection of more than fifty cherry trees scattered around the park’s expansive lawn, and one can expect a phenomenal show of blooms in late Spring. A weekend festival is held every April to showcase this mass blooming, drawing in thousands of people from around the country as well as locals. When it’s not all about the cherry blossoms, the park is home to weekend movies on the lawn and other community mashups.
Reignhart Cemetery
Taking up some twenty acres of land, this cemetery is well over one hundred years old, sporting headstones of passed souls born as early as 1850. Some of the older lots sport informative plaques that speak to the history of early colonizers, settlers, and gold miners. More area still is dedicated to the generations that followed, and several acres remain available for local families who live still and intend to be buried among their ancestors and founders.
