Wrong Number

KATYA DAY
@Nika
outfit

It was funny to see Nika in circles of people she knew. Although, really, she knew easily less than half of the people here. A handful of familiar faces beyond the two she knew well. Anyway, the point was, it was funny to see Nika. To think about how their paths had initially crossed with a wrong number, and how they shared a beginning, of sorts. In that their first full moons were the same moon, the same day. Bizarre. Kind of cool.

And holy fucking shit, here she was, absolutely radiating power like a wood stove. She felt almost indiscernible from Asha, who was floating somewhere else in the house. Lora felt that dusty old twinge of envy. It was like they were not on the same timeline at all.

Still, here she was, approaching the woman with a grin that was almost bashful. Stronger than jealousy was the urge to be liked, to some degree or another. Maybe it was some evolution of the opportunist in her that had existed even before the hyena - the quiet understanding that networking with the right people lent itself to a greater likelihood of success.

"Hey, stranger," came her greeting, lifting the drink in her hand in a slight gesture to match. If nothing else, Nika looked like a god damn supermodel in that dress. Cheers, chick.
