Boys and Girls in Blue:
Tracey Lakewood
Trace or Lakes is a Rookie Detective that was assigned to Ridgefield alongside Dato Lee and Frank Hayfield. A buzzing personality and often fun or distracting to be around, her memory is flawless but her attention span less so! They have trained together for a few years and trust each other, becoming fast friends. I picture trace to be a techie that follows the latest trends in technology, using cutting edge phones and equipment. Speaking in terms that nobody else but her understand!
Frank Hayfield
Another Rookie assigned to Ridgefield at the same time, only with a few years age on Dato. The stoic, stocky and balding Frank Hayfield is a bruiser of a man with little to say to anyone beyond what is necessary. All Dato knows is he hates the name Frank, but he’s never found out why in the months they’ve worked together. With an eye for art, supposedly he’s got background as a sketch artist but doesn’t share much. Reliable and dependable come to mind when thinking of Frank.
Connor Beirne
A forty five year old Irish American veteran of Ridgefield. A former forensic lab technician, he swapped the white coat for a suit and tie fifteen years ago. Now Senior Detective Beirne, he’s currently Dato’s partner and lead detective. All Dato knows so far is he likes his whiskey, wine and come to think of it beer too for that matter. He has the experience to know when to press a suspect and when to back off. Very worn into the role, I picture Beirne as having seen it all and then some, only with some irish sarcasm and/or wisdom laced on top. Connor always has time to talk and advise after the case is done, being a mentor role.
The Wildcards and Villains
X
A Vampire being hunted and hunting at the same time. A Moriarty inspired character who makes my detective's life very difficult in a long game of cat and mouse. Often subtle, they use pawns, are very well spoken and always has plans within plans. He or She enjoys the game much more than the kill, leaving a trail of clues. Male or female is fine, old or young appearance is fine, but over 18 is required in case of conflict. Perhaps he or she just woke up and are regaining the strength and status they had, using humans as their cattle or pieces on the board. Any plausible backstory is fine for this character, from any part of the world and time period.
Yes absolutely you can be an existing character if you fit the manipulative power hungry role ;) and it'd be glorious if an alt or two carried out his or her character's overall plans in a thread.
Importantly, X is also concerned with and becoming aware of....
The Rooks
A brief primer and introduction. The Rooks were a small group of mortals that had begun taking matters into their own hands, like children playing with matches, they have no idea what they are getting themselves into. Usually their numbers come from having a bad experience with a supernatural, losing a loved one or just some mental disturbance that may have been exaggerated by the stresses involved. Overtime those mortals that became more cautious and aware, split from those that wanted to take more direct action, the more hot headed among them now calling themselves the Grey Rooks, while the more leveled headed, well that is another story for later.
The Leader of the Grey Rooks is known as Priest, sometimes the Priest or Humbled Hand.
Priest
Priest quotes scripture a lot. He or She uses holy signs and symbols, being a big fan of fire. Having a burn mark across their hand from an encounter with a were, they were given the nickname humbled hand by another practicing priest, hoping his friend would learn their lesson and seek a path of peace. Although they do move behind the scenes, Priest is known to draw upon elaborate speeches and rabble rousing. If you encounter them they are likely well surrounded by a small but loyal crowd of scared humans looking for guidance. They preach both humility, along with fire and brimstone against supernaturals. They have a small, growing but unsteady following. Their gender is up for your choosing, because their face isn't seen publicly.
The History of Priest themselves is something of a myth to their group, only now being whispered by the first supernaturals to become aware of this amusing but irritating little gathering. Apparently raised in an orphanage, run by a supernatural for children without a home, who were unable or unwilling to find a foster home. Most might think that upbringing would endear Priest to supernaturals, but the truth is when they found out what creature was raising the children they ran and kept running until they found a church. The fear at seeing the only adult they'd ever trusted turn into a monster before their eyes and fighting a thief to a bloody end, led them down a path to the church to seek answers. Growing and being educated by nuns, when the church proved insufficient a vehicle to root out these creatures, Priest decided to take matters into their own hands. They still have ties to the church and most of those within sympathize but try to talk them down from rash actions, preaching patience and prayer instead. which helps level out this character, keeping them somewhat grounded.
The press they draw is not to anyone's benefit, and although the Priest doesn't let his or her face publicly be filmed, they do release anonymous quotes over an independent podcast service called See no Evil. Which is supposedly a conspiracy podcast broadcasting locally, but sometimes has all too accurate information! Sometimes disinformation passed on from interested parties, however it is mostly scare stories or fantasy from people safe at home with no idea what they are talking about. As you are anonymous to the media, if you want to play you have a close friend or body double helping spread the message, that'd be a possible twist. Can you or anyone associated be a supernatural, yes if you want to be incredibly cagey and devious :D.
Importantly you are a small fish in a big pond, Priest is intelligent enough to know and sadly through experience, that direct confrontation is usually foolish. Protests by their followers outside city hall though are being considered. While they disagree with how passive the other half of the rooks seem in their even more subtle methods, they do keep in contact with them.
To Come:
Whatever happened to the Cunning Half of the Rooks, rumors of them trying to promote positive relations with supernaturals might just be rumors.
See No Evil, who is really behind it and what is their agenda? It's probably not what you think.
