History
1985:
Born in West London, England. Parents are Laurie and Charles Carpenter
Mother works as a fashion designer, father was a photographer
1989:
Laurie and Charles had another baby, this time a boy named Grayson.
Both Laurie and Charles were supportive parents who always encouraged their children, but they weren't always present in their lives due to work, often taking long trips out of town for business.
1998:
When Tilda was just 12 years old, she went for a drive with her father to pick up some groceries at the shop. She learned her dad wouldn't be there for her birthday and yelled at him. Her father suddenly fell asleep at the wheel and they got into a car accident. Tilda survived, though suffered a broken collarbone, but her father did not. Tilda didn't realize until later that this was in large part due to her newfound ability as a psychic.
1999:
Laurie, still heartbroken from the loss of Charles, picks up and moves her family across the pond to New York City. The three of them share a small flat in Brooklyn. The distance between Laurie and her kids grows as she puts in more hours at work, leaving the kids to their own devices, often with Tilda in charge.
One night while babysitting, Tilda tells her unwilling brother it’s time to go to bed. In her annoyance, she accidentally causes him to fall asleep in the middle of their living room. She begins to suspect she was responsible for her father’s death, as the action felt the exact same.
Tilda becomes quiet and more secretive. She vows to never use her power again.
She decides to honour her father’s passing by taking up photography. She uses his old Pentax film camera with his initials engraved on the lens and grows to love it.
They grow close to one another and eventually, Tilda confesses to Dani what she can do and what she believed happened to her father. Instead of running from her, Dani supports her and tries to help her master her power, instead of shying away from it.
Tilda learns three things during this time. She’s not only able to help her friend fall asleep but can also reach into her dreams; she loses her sight temporarily (up to twenty-four hours to recover) if she practices for too long; she’s in love with Dani.
The two start dating when they’re 17, with the support of their families. They both plan on going to NYU for their studies.
2003-2007:
Tilda gets into NYU for photography, for which she’s thrilled. Dani doesn’t get in and instead moves to Australia to study marine biology. The two women go their separate ways.
With uni comes a time of experimentation for Tilda. She begins to find her voice as a photographer, preferring natural light to studio when it comes to portraiture. She learns she’s bisexual. Still heartbroken over Dani, Tilda has a series of short-term relationships that never seem to last or go anywhere, especially after she tells them about her power. She’s young and has some fun while trying to put the past behind her.
She moves out of her mum’s flat towards the end of her schooling but stays in contact with her family as much as possible.
2008-2014:
Tilda works on her portfolio, photographing lots of weddings, parties and special events in order to pay the bills.
Towards the end of 2012, she lands an internship working for a fashion designer her mum works with in downtown Manhattan.
Tilda is eventually hired full-time for this fashion designer in 2014.
2017:
As the world gawks at the existence of vampires and weres, Tilda begins to grow more concerned that her family will discover what she can do (and what she did).
Dani moves back to New York, and the two women rekindle their romance. They quickly move in with one another and get married by the end of the year.
2020:
Upon the world finding out about the existence of psychics, Tilda, with Dani at her side, finally tells her mum and brother what she thinks happened the night her father died. It doesn’t go well. Her brother is furious and calls Tilda a freak, while her mum refuses to speak to her. Dani remains there for her wife and the two go back to their apartment where a heartbroken and guilt-ridden Tilda is consoled.
One night in September 2020, when walking home from work, Tilda is accosted by a vampire in an alley. The man, unable to resist his bloodlust, nearly consumes all of Tilda’s psychic blood. He eventually realizes his mistake and gives her some of his own. Still a new vampire himself, he is afraid she might die and opts to turn her instead.
He tells her what to do by the next new moon, then flees, leaving her behind to figure the rest out on her own.
At first Tilda ignores her new reality and returns home, with an excuse as to why she was late getting back. She doesn’t tell her wife what happened out of fear and denial.
As the new moon draws closer, her appetite becomes more insatiable, she grows irritable and starts wearing tacky sunglasses at all hours, sometimes refusing to leave the house to go to work. Dani is concerned but doesn’t know what to do.
One night a few days before the new moon, Tilda finally grows too hungry and flees her flat. She runs into a young man at a club and pulls him into the bathroom with her. Unable to go any longer without the taste of blood, Tilda gives in and drinks from the man, managing to stop in time before she drinks too much. With her transition near-complete, she disappears into the night, jumping on the first red-eye out of JFK. It brings her to Denver, Colorado where she lies low for a little while, learning how and when she needs to feed after the new moon. Despite having a couple of close calls along the way, she catches on quickly and learns her power still works, which helps with feeding.
Too afraid to tell Dani about her new reality and risk her spouse’s life, Tilda calls her very confused and concerned wife and breaks it off. They eventually file for divorce.
2021:
Seeking a quiet refuge, Tilda moves to Lauderhill in Ridgefield, where she hopes to meet other vampires who can teach her more about her new existence, leaving her old life behind in New York.
Relationships
Daniella Jiménez-Hendricks — Matilda’s ex-wife she abandoned when she first became a vampire. Filed for divorce a few months later in fear of hurting her. They have since rekindled their romance in Ridgefield, joined Catrina’s clutch as vampires and are doing okay.
Sayed Moussa — Matilda’s former dominus and first friend in Ridgefield. She no longer considers him a friend after he abandoned her dying partner, Dani while she transitioned into a vampire.
Zaharia Cel-Tradat — Closest friend in Ridgefield and former clutch member and regent. She misses Zara.
Jaime Solaire — Former friend and mentor and clutch member. He left the clutch when Tilda did. He left town and she misses him.
Catrina Stewart — Current domina and mentor. Matilda looks up to Catrina and is grateful for all she’s done for her and Dani.
Jacky Bratten — Once suggested Tilda into screaming whenever she saw another person. It was horrible and led to disastrous events. Also killed her partner, Dani, but Tilda doesn’t know it’s the same person.
Ashley Miller — Helpfully assisted Tilda when she was suggested by Jacky. Got into a car accident though and bloodlusted. Ashley was not a fan. They met a while later when Tilda first learned to turn into a cat and had difficulty with the power.
Tatiana Morozov — New clutch friend Tilda wants to get to know more.
Ender Balbay — Met in a pumpkin patch and chose pumpkins together. New clutch friend.
William Martin — Possible new mentor to look up to after Jaime’s disappearance. Tilda quite enjoyed their conversation. He helped her see she wants to mentor newer vampires.
